For those of you who enjoy going to concerts, how many of you would like for that to be taken away from you? No one, right. Within the last few years the Altoona music scene has had it’s hits an misses. Ryan Wapner has done everything in his power to give kids a place to see concerts and enjoy themselves. The city of Altoona has already asked him to remove himself from the first two venues that were used for shows. The first time being caused by an avoidable accident that was no ones fault but the “victim”. The second venue Ryan used, The Terrace, was moved due to mistreatment. As the last few months have passed, Ryan’s third venue, The Archway Center, has also been taken away from him with very little actual reasoning other than neighborhood complains and zoning problems. Ryan and his mom, Joann, among other Altoona residents, do their part in making each show enjoyable to everyone. From being pleasant people to selling refreshments and snacks at a low fee to also providing ping pong and “hang out” areas, the Wapner’s have shown what shows are still about.
The city of Altoona has left Ryan and company looking for places to hold already booked shows. For instance, one of the shows last weekend was had in the meeting center of a Quality Inn. Although kids still showed up and had a great time, this isn’t what Ryan wanted for his hobby. As of right now all 7 upcoming shows don’t have a venue to be held at, after originally being planned for The Archway Center. There have been talks of a fundraiser happening as well as a petition that Joann has personally walked around the city to get things back in order. All this family wants is to give the teens/young adults of Altoona something to do with their free time that is keeping them out of trouble.

so apparently these are a bigger hit than I figured they would be. ryan told me to start a tumblr or something for them with easier access to all of this stuff and whatnot so that’s coming in the near future. keep your eyes open for all of this and more i think i might have more ideas up my sleeve.
